I agree that Mustafi isn’t worth anywhere near the price touted. Classic Wenger leaving it to the last week which now puts us in a position where €40m is the price touted for this guy 
Don’t usually take notice of Balague but he’s not the first person i’ve seen suggest Mustafi isn’t good enough.

The thing is Balague has already contradicted himself on this saga as he always does. Stealing a living.
What actually happens is we get a clubs price for each player on our short list. Our interest is then touted to the media by clubs to flush out buyers. We then ask if they’ll take less. If they don’t we move down our list. So I suspect we have moved on to Evans. If the price for Evans is too high we either move to another target or move back to Mustafa.
It makes you wonder if had Newcastle accepted our Cabaye bid and not demanded £19m he went for, if we would have still gone for Ozil…

Haven’t laughed out loud in a few days and this opening sentence had me repeating it twice.
Nothing wrong with the club refusing to pay that.
Everything wrong with the club identifying this guy as a target and negotiating for weeks (supposedly) and refusing to pay that.
I highly doubt they’ve been in talks for weeks and only mentioned a price yesterday.
