Other Clubs' Transfers

BBC Sport’s Sir David Ornstein

The player Arsenal really wanted this summer was Alexandre Lacazette and sources there tell me his arrival is another signal that the club are deadly serious when they say they want to become top-flight champions.

Although breaking the club transfer record does not guarantee anything, acquiring Lacazette proves Arsenal and Wenger can still attract top players, even without Champions League football.

Arsenal do have other targets but whether or not more signings are made is likely to depend on what happens with the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jack Wilshere, all of whom are out of contract in a year’s time and have been linked with moves away from the Emirates.

Arsenal’s first-team squad is currently far too big and players need to leave before any more arrive.

And Costa is on his way out?

They’ll get Morata instead, right?

Yeah Morata to Chelsea makes sense now.

Great signing for Swansea!

Rocky Table!

So Lukaku to Manchester United is a done deal pretty much!

I’m getting really worried.

We need Sanchez and Ozil to get sorted and then sell a bunch of dead weight so we can get another CM and maybe a winger otherwise it’s going to be 5th place for us again.

I don’t think we’ll address the midfield unfortunately, I think that’s where our most obvious issues will lie this season.

There’s just nothing close to a good replacement for Ramsey in the squad. His hamstrings going at some point during the season is almost a sure thing.

Really don’t get why Özil and Sanchez are holding up signing a CM it’s just nonsensical.

Central midfield will be a huge issue for us if we don’t address it properly.

Yeah it’s stupid. Ornstein said any further signings are dependent on Ox Ozil and Sanchez. Hugely frustrating. We’re always a step behind the other clubs trwnsfer-wise.

No, but Jack WIlshere does.

I think Arsenal reached the limit of 17 non-homegrown players at this point too. Not investing in the starting eleven directly, but adding squad players like Elneny, Gabriel and Perez was not smart business at all.

That’s a farce if true, squad is bloated with mediocre to average players and it will do us no good having them especially as they are on cushty wages and won’t be in a rush to leave.
