Laurent Koscielny

Yeah it will take longer than 6 months and what people don’t realize about Achilles ruptures is that the tendon is not like a bone, it doesn’t heal stronger or go back to what it was before. It shortens, it becomes stiffer/loses elasticity, and you also lose some of the calf muscle which is effectively the upper part of the tendon. Setting the physical limitations aside, it will always be on his mind too because it never gets back to normal and there is always a risk of a re-rupture. He is done as a footballer at the top level, maybe he can do a Beckham and kick the ball over at the States.

That hasn’t been the case for quite some time now in fairness.

Exactly @Gladiator

He’s absolutely finished at the top level. He’ll stay here till he can resume full training then end up leaving. Can’t see him playing competitvely for us again.

Perhaps, but in this case I find it hard to believe that he’ll be back by November

Maybe not match fit but perhaps in training.

Although given the fact he’s had so many issues he’s had with his Achilles it’s hard to see him recovering fully.

That said, I’d love him as a third or fourth choice CB for next season as well as his experience in the locker room.

He can be our new Mertesacker.
Not good, or fit enough, for the first team but great as cover for the world class CB or new manager is going to buy :grinning:

He has plenty of experience at the top level and is one of the longest serving players at the club so he might even consider a coaching job here.

Poor Kos! Such a sad end.

He should now go MLS or something and take in the cash before early retirement.

It is a sad result for Kos, he would have been on the bench for a very strong French side at the World Cup also.

Considering what the Club has done for Mertesacker, you’d hope there’s every chance of long term involvement for Koscielny if he wants it

Kos can always bottle up and sell the youth potion when he hangs up his boots.

Doesn’t look like he’s aged a day!

True. He doesn’t look like the well loved old geezer we see on the pitch week in week out.

Hopefully he can come back before the end of the year.

Would have been a World Champion it not for that stupid injury. Must be gutted.
