Everton Vs Arsenal (PL)

Yeah unfortunately all of our rivals play cupcakes this week - but you never know with this EPL. Other than Chelsea - Sunderland (which I can’t imagine in a million years), any of the others could drop points if things go perfectly.

Ugh… just realized Chelsea has two easy games now and we have City next… we could head into that match 9 points back! :sob:

I’ll stay positive, Arsenal is one of the only positive points (occasionally) in my life.

Easy fixture list and no CL football, could get ugly come January.

This team can’t be trusted to keep a clean sheet and that’s a problem.

Özil there, looking at his man, watching him jump and score the winner

Anyone saying this isn’t a bad loss is talking bollocks, Everton aren’t much chop and one win in 10 is a testament to that including a 5-0 battering against the Chavs that could have been 8. This was simply a must win ahead of a very tough trip to the Etihad come Sunday.

Awful performance

You need to chin up. This wasn’t a must win, it was pretty obvious we might lose this one, Everton are a decent side with a decent manager, who is also on a great record against us, the fact they haven’t hit the ground running so far is no testament to what they can do to any side on their day. Also losing to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge at a moment of incredible form for Conte’s men and losing at the Goodison is incomparable. Everton are unbeaten at home, drawing with United and Spurs and beaten us. It is their away performances that let them down but at the Goodison they are to be reckoned with. You cannot have it perfect 38 times in a season, performances stagger sooner or later. We were unbeaten since the opening day of the season. The only other side to emulate such performance was Liverpool and they lost to Bournemouth not long ago in an unforgettable manner, a loss was always pending for us. It was the manner in which we lost that was disappointing because since going 1-0 up we didn’t dug in to protect our lead, Everton were much more aggressive and committed to the 3 points.

You have to look at the bigger picture. Half way into the season we could be on 40 points if we collect all 6 in what looks like two easy home games vs Palace and WBA, and that is always a good thing, could be even more if we do well at the Etihad. 3 points at the Goodison wouldn’t matter if we don’t show the consistency to replicate this point tally in the 2nd half of the season. 40 points after 19 games is good form and sets you up nicely to challenge for the title, but you need the second half to be just as good and better.

40 points at the halfway point isn’t enough IMO, Chelsea look like they will get mid to high 80s so we’d need a near perfect 2nd half of the season to be Champions, I think this was a must win given we have one of the toughest fixtures of the season directly after it on Sunday.

Chelsea’s form is incredible. Their performance at this stage of the season looks extraordinary and rarely achieved, it doesn’t mean ours is bad. It is foolish to try to compete with that at the moment. What we should do is plan ahead and make sure we are consistent throughout the season so we are up there battling it in April and May. Chelsea will start dropping points any time now, might even lose tonight or in a coupe of weeks away at Spurs, we have to make sure we are in good shape to take advantage when it happens.

This was typical Arsenal IMO.

Everton started slow and we love that - we were in total control and scored a lucky goal. The moment Everton started playing with intensity and purpose, we lost our shit.

We just can’t play against teams with high tempo, we crumble and curl into a shell. Happens every time without fail.

14 games unbeaten and we moan. Lose and we moan. Win and we moan. FFS! We are a joke. The others supporters are right to make a mockery of us.

Reality is we have only won 4 of our last 8 league games and in that time Chelsea have turned a 3 point deficit into a 6 point lead if they beat Sunderland… Your ambition is to win the League yeah ?

Ox and Walcott :joy:

Yep. But going unbeaten isn’t exactly common, and anyone can beat anyone in the Premier League (on their day). So you really do need to balance perspectives when bad losses happen.

We are the same team that beat the league winners twice last season (the only team to do so I might add) and this season we beat the current league leaders Chelsea 3-0 (it was an absolute dicking tbh)

This season is far from over.

Its not over but it makes City a must win on Sunday, if we fail to win that and Chelsea do the business against fodders such as Sunderland and Palace we are looking at a 8/9 point gap at Christmas.

Seriously Everton are not a good side. Theyve got a pedestrian back 4 an very average midfield.
They failed at home to swansea, palace and got knocked out the league cup by Norwich.
It was a must win game because of Chelsea having 2 fixtures at sunderland and palace.
They get a lead by sunday before kick off of 9 points its game over.
Probably even a lead of 7 after city and we wont pull it back.

Win a title and we wont.

The fact is that we can’t change opinion in every game. That’s absolutely pathetic. I guess that if we beat City on sunday we would be title contenders once again.
