Less than two weeks to go until our season opener in the community shield and the only thing we’ve basically done is swapping strikers (one who I have faith in, but has to prove himself). This team is going to do nooting in the Premier League.

The community shield is not a friendly no matter how much people choose to belittle it with the word ‘glorified’.
It’s an official honour of the English game, and the 4th most prestigious domestic trophy Arsenal FC can possibly win.
Being a super cup, it pits the winners of the two biggest domestic tournaments against eachother, two monumentally hard pre-requisites to meet.
Dunno why people act all pompous like it is somehow unimportant and beneath us. When we start winning league titles and make a few CL finals, then maybe we can treat it with a little less prominence.
But 3 FA Cups in 12ish years? who the fuck do we think we are treating it like a fucking friendly. Besides, cracking day out.

Insane how we didn’t play in the community shield from 2006-14 whereas now we are playing in our 3rd CS in 4 seasons.
Its a one of these strange games where you want to win it but won’t be disappointed if you don’t as really it means nothing.
It is categorically not a friendly.
That’s the Supercup format for you though.
