Our top goal scorer was Sanchez and he, and possibly Ozil, donāt seem that willing to sign a new contract.
We also need to replace Cazorla, and we have been trying to get a top quality striker for more than four seasons.
We have lost our CL status after a dismal season, and have one of the biggest transfer funds in Europe and are supposedly making record breaking bids for players.
I would say that makes us look pretty desperate to any selling club.

Yeah in all of this you forget that Giroud is on the wrong side of 30, Sanchez clearly doesnāt want to stay and Ozil future is up in smoke as well. Itās quite clear we are desperate to improve that area of the pitch.
We definitely could do with signing a striker, my issue is with the word desperate, we could legitimately expect or current attack to score at the same rate as last season if nobody goes so weāre not desperate
Would be nice to improve if we can but 100+ goals is pretty hard to improve on isnāt it?

The top 2 in the league both scored nearly 10 more than us, so it would be nice to improve a little in attack. We probably need to score 5-10 more goals and concede 10 less to be a legit title threat.
yes if we can shore up the midfield, protect the defensive third better and concede fewer goals then weād manage fine with current strikers
however, getting better finishers that convert chances at a higher rate would really help, specially if we can get players that cross better than Ox
but really itās attitude and drive that will make the biggest difference - play week in week out like we did in the cup final and weāll challenge, throw in performances like those against WBA, Crystal Palace, Everton away, Watford and so on and no personnel changes will make any difference

How are we not desperate when most likely Sanchez is off and scored the lions share of our goals? Giroud is consistent but not prolific especially when heās the #1 striker and Welbeck isnāt a good finisher?

Whether Sanchez is or isnāt a striker isnāt really relevant, he scores the lions share of our goals where ever he plays and weāre in a situation where he may be gone before next season.
Leaving Giroud who hasnāt really produced the goods when heās been the #1 option and Welbeck doesnāt have it in his game to be a consistent goal. scorer.
If we lose Sanchez I donāt see any available players that would replicate his goal contrition other than strikers ergo weād be desperate for a proper striker.

You could say if/when we loose Sanchez we would be desperate to sign someone that can play on the left of the atrack as effectively as him, Even then id still like to sign that elite level striker if possibleif not then ok letās not just go for another Lucas Perez type signing

We are desperate for a striker itās really that simple. We do not have a prolific goal scorer that operated in a central role so itās not really up for debate if weāre being honest.
This going to drag on and on. Iām not even that excited about this signing right now, I will be even less excited when itās still rumbling on in a month or so.

Numbers donāt lie, we scored plenty of goal last season and could realistically rely on the same strike force to score at a similar rate, We could definitely do with signing one of the 5/6 elite level strikers in the world but that is difrent from us being desperate to sign a striker
Last season when welbeck wa injured we were legitimately desperate to sign a striker and went with Perez, we donāt need to do that this summer, ergo we are not desperate for a striker
Thats not really desperate though, thatās quite a normal situation for football clubs to be in, given the nature and frequency of transfer windows, and contracts never really being long term.

We are desperate to sign a striker and have been since we sold the last very good player to occupy that position. Giroud has never been more than an average goal scorer, Welbeck has never been an average goal scorer and all the other stop gaps weāve signed including Perez have been duds.
We are desperate. We have been desperate. And come September we will still be desperate.
