Pretty typical Arsenal signing this would be. Arguable upgrade on our current options at best, gonna pay him probably a lot more than he should be making wage wise, and heā€™s gonna be useless against a parked bus. Negative Arsenal supporters will be lamenting this signing in a couple years wondering why we canā€™t move his albatross contract.

And?

So, when he was 35-40 million or so the last few summers, Arsene passed, but now that he is 60, Arsenal are in talks???

Not seeing how he is a big upgrade over Giroud or Welbeck. Would marginally improve the team. Not the type of signing to help Arsenal challenge for the league title.

Makes perfect sense as heā€™s dithered and sat on his hands all this time and now when heā€™s ready to pull the trigger the price has increased exponentially.

Heā€™s quite an upgrade on both really, Welbeck doesnā€™t even deserve to be in the discussion. Lacazette can actually finish consistently and has scored over 20 league goals for three consecutive seasons. Welbeck wonā€™t achieve that in anything but his wildest dreams.

My main gripe with signing him now is that itā€™s all too little too late, Lacazette with Alexis and Ɩzil would have been quite a good front line but now with Alexis practically one foot out the door signing Lacazette now just makes Wenger look foolish.

Just getting it on the record so I can search for that post in a couple years time and throw it in someones face who thought heā€™d be good.

Now make one saying what an incredible signing he will be; hedge your bets

Ozil is finally going to play with a decent striker if this happens

Heā€™s already played with decent strikers at us, what we need is a World class striker.

I would be ok with this signing, but only if we kept Alexis. Him, Giroud and Lacazette would be a very good striking force.

Itā€™s not so much a question of, is Lacazette better than what we have?
Itā€™s more, is he better than what our rivals have?

Lacazette has never played in there PL and the strikers at the other top teams are Aguero, Kane, Costa, Lukaku, and whoever Man U and Liverpool are going to buy.

Mbappe has never played in the Premier League as well.

Messi has never played in the Premier League either

Decent is complimenting Lacazette, heā€™s played with Giroud and Welbeck before, they have their uses but theyā€™re average.

In fairness thatā€™s a massively relevant question.

Sure what our rivals do is relevant too but ultimately we can only improve our own side. Iā€™ve been saying it for years that we should be looking to make our first teamers squad players. The better a player we sign to achieve that, great.

I think youā€™ve got it the wrong way round personally.

Heā€™s so world class that the top teams are in a bidding war for his signature. Wenger has been after him for years already. Now that we finally get to play in the Europa League I can see this signing happening.

Thatā€™s true, but Mbappe is being touted as the best young striker in Europe, and has been linked with Real Madrid.

Messi has been the best player at one of the biggest clubs in Europe, in one of the best leagues, and has been voted the best player in Europe several times, as well as being the top player for Argentina.

Lacazette plays in the French first division for Lyon and Giroud usually gets picked ahead of him for France.
