Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Yeah there are usually clear indications with creative/attacking types that they have something special early. Defenders and GK need a bit of maturity and “seasoning” to be most effective - it isn’t always about moments of brilliance from them - it is more about reliable solidness and consistency.

Ox has shown some super elite physical traits and frankly some pretty impressive technical traits (some will argue this - watch his practice video), but he seems to have no awareness or knack for playing the game. In contrast, young Cesc was like an owl with his head bobbing around scanning, always knowing and thinking and reacting in milliseconds… still saddens me how he left us.

There is no surprise if the big clubs want him. His last couple months of the season at RWB were brilliant for him, looked a different animal. Probably down to his mentality after shacking up with that little mix bird.

I think Ox has always had the talent but just not the head to go with it. Now that he’s sorting that out, he will get better. Will be gutted if he leaves.

On top of all that he was the most committed to the cause. Went over and clapped the fans when things were bad and when they were good, more of a leader on the team than anyone even the captains tbh.

I would sell the fuck out of him right now.

Ox got another year then to become good enough for Bayern. Good luck to him.

If the Ox is willing to sacrifice his ego and let his dreams of emulating Stevie G go (which he sounds happy to be fair as long to as his getting the minutes)

He could genuinely be up there with the best attacking right backs in the league and maybe even Europe (maybe), don’t get me wrong I’d prefer a specialist in his position i.e someone like Aurier, Semedo, Henrichs or Pereira (who’s abit of a reach because he’s a jack of all trades like the Ox but his solid defensively and was arguably the best Rb in Ligue 1 this season to so I couldn’t leave him out) who’re all just as good going forward as they’re going backwards which can’t be said for either Bellerin or Chamberlain.

With that being said that could be one of the reasons why we’ve signed Kolasinac who’s a defender first and foremost which could potentially help shift a defensive block slightly abit like the way Napoli do with Ghoulam & Hysaj which can create lopsided defensive structures and possible one on one situations on the opposite flank.

The more I think about it the more I can’t help but feel I was a little to quick to say I would happily let Chambo go for 40mil ^^ there, it’s a ridiculous price I know but we don’t exactly need the money and if we let him go who’s realistically gonna wanna come in and rotate with Bellerin for that Rwb spot on World Cup year ?

I still think think it’s just gent talk for more money tbh.

Standing next to someone like Gerrard though, who wouldnt want to say they wish to emulate him?

I’m sure if Buffon was there he would have had am eye for that spot inbetween the sticks. (nah maybe not)

I can’t believe Wenger would be happy to see him go.
This season he has started to get it together and put in some good performances.
He has persisted with Walcott so I just can’t see the point in selling Chamberlain who still has potential, unless it’s Chamberlain himself who wants to leave.

That seems to be the case.

Lemar to replace him

Great news if true. Watching Ox “”“develop”"" into a CM for us is not something I want to see. Hopefully we get a decent fee for him.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say maybe AMN is a factor in letting the ox go?

Can’t say I’m not happy if that’s the case.

Yeah, maybe, I would back AMN to step in and do a decent job as a backup wing-back to Bellerín, and certainly would prefer him in CM in lesser priority games than Ox.

Still, with uncertainty about Bellerín hanging around here long-term amidst Barça’s interest, and given that AMN at wing-back is one thing but at RB in important games is another, we definitely should be looking at a back-up RB or someone to groom to take over Bellerín’s place long-term.

I really want to see AMN go on loan, he’s good enough to play for Arsenal right now in my opinion though not start and with so many more senior options he won’t get the minutes he should be.

France or Germany would be good, he’s capable of playing higher than the Championship and never keen on loans to clubs in a relegation fight.

And I look at him now as a midfielder, my opinion of him has gotten even higher than it was last season.

And on Ox, I wanted him to renew in my wish list because I don’t expect more than 3 incomings (number mentioned by Wenger) but I’m ok with him leaving if we’re addressing RB, the timing would be strange though. He’s been mostly poor for his entire Arsenal career and just as he moves on to being OK, we sell him.

We’ll renew him though for sure, all the talk of his sale is BS.

I hear this logic pointed out a lot but why does it matter if the fee is good? Signing Ox to a new deal and him inevitably ending up getting more game as an attacker or a midfielder (as he doesn’t see himself as a wing-back long term) has disaster written all over it.

It’s time to let him move on, he was signed with huge promise to fulfil and simply hasn’t been able to do so. Giving him a new contract would be typical Arsenal and I’d actually give Wenger credit for bucking trend and selling him.

It would be easy to upgrade on him and that’s what the club should be looking to do, Chambers can fill in at RWB if needed and there are far better forward and midfield options out there.

It doesn’t, what I would find strange is just as he’s shown some promise Wenger decided it was time to let him go. I would be very surprised and a little excited by his sale tbh.

And obviously I’d expect him to then go over the 3 incomings limit he set.
